What is an AFK textbook?
Students often use the phrase AFK textbook when looking for a single resource that organizes the dental knowledge needed for Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge preparation. Dental World uses a digital textbook format made of subject-based chapters and visual study slides. It is designed for structured review, not passive page turning.
The library is not an official NDEB publication and does not replace the current NDEB blueprint or official policies. Its purpose is to help internationally trained dentists organize foundational and clinical material, connect related concepts and build a repeatable study routine.
How to choose AFK study books and resources
A useful resource should match the task you are trying to complete. Use a textbook or study deck when you need to rebuild understanding. Use a question bank when you need retrieval practice and detailed answer review. Use mock exams when you need mixed-subject practice, pacing and a broader view of your performance.
Before relying on any AFK study book, check when it was updated, whether its claims can be traced to credible sources and whether it clearly separates educational guidance from official NDEB information. Avoid resources built around recalled examination content. Recalled questions may be inaccurate, outdated or shared without permission.
Digital study features
Dental World keeps notes, bookmarks and progress connected to the material you are studying. You can return to the last viewed slide, bookmark material that deserves another pass and use your saved work to plan the next session. Free accounts can preview the first 10 slides in each chapter deck. Paid access opens the complete available textbook and slide library.
Build a balanced AFK study plan
A practical week can combine focused reading, short question sets and scheduled cumulative review. Start with a narrow chapter, answer questions from the same subject and review every uncertain response. Later in the week, use mixed questions or a mock exam to check whether the concepts remain available outside their original chapter.
