Current format snapshot
The AFK consists of 200 single-answer multiple-choice questions delivered in two parts. Candidates have two hours to complete each part, and every question has a value of one.
Electronic and booklet delivery
The NDEB offers electronic delivery at Prometric test centres and booklet delivery at selected examination sites. The available delivery method depends on the examination listing and location selected during registration.
What the exam covers
The AFK assesses biomedical science and applied clinical science knowledge. The NDEB updates questions as knowledge changes, so current official resources should guide the scope of your preparation.
Practise the format deliberately
Use timed mixed sessions to rehearse pacing and sustained attention. Use untimed quizzes when the goal is to slow down, compare options and understand why an answer is stronger.
